This plain kuripe is hand-carved in Peru from authentic Chonta (Bactris gasipaes), a highly revered Amazonian ironwood. Left completely unadorned, the pipe showcases the wood’s signature dark, almost black grain and incredibly dense texture.
Properties of Chonta
Chonta is a sacred black palm tree known throughout the Amazon as a stone-hard warrior wood. Because of its extreme density and strength, traditional curanderos (healers) and shamans have used Chonta for generations to craft protective staffs, arrows, and ritual tools.
